“I work out, eat right, and take care of my skin. Of course, cosmetic creams and lotions will always have their place in my regimen—but for my moderate to severe frown lines, I was ready for a prescription treatment. Maybe you are, too.”
If you're serious about treating your frown lines, it's a good time to consider Dysport—another prescription treatment option for temporarily improving moderate to severe frown lines. Prescription Dysport is an injection used to temporarily improve the look of your moderate to severe frown lines without changing the look of your whole face. The untreated facial muscles still work normally, allowing you to freely show facial expressions, such as smiling, in untreated areas. Dysport blocks the signal from the nerve to the muscles, ultimately resulting in a reduction of muscle activity and temporarily preventing contraction of the muscles that cause frown lines. Preventing the contraction of frown muscles helps to reduce and eliminate the deep lines in the skin that make you look angry, tired or older. We move those muscles constantly even when we sleep, so if you have ever been asked: “are you mad?” maybe those lines are a sure give away and you may be the perfect candidate for Dysport.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
What can Dysport do for you?
Whenever you laugh, frown, concentrate or squint into the sun, your facial muscles contract and your skin creases. As you get older your skin loses its elasticity and those creases deepen into lines that become permanently etched on your face. Frown lines between your eyes can become particularly noticeable at a relatively young age, making you look angry or worried even when you're not.
By temporarily immobilizing the muscles you use to frown, Dysport can smooth out those lines, restoring a more youthful, less stressed expression to your face. Because you will be less likely to frown after treatment, you may even lose the urge to frown.
Is it similar to Botox?
It is similar in its effect on the muscles although there are some differences that may be beneficial to you. Please ask our staff or Dr. Janiszewski if it would be a good alternative to Botox.
Is it FDA approved?
Yes, approved in the United States for aesthetic use in April 2009, Dysport has a history of use in other countries since 1991. Outside the U.S., it was first approved for aesthetic use in 2001.
What causes frown lines?
Over time, repeated movement of the facial skin by the forehead muscles forms lines between the eyebrows. Frown lines are "dynamic"—they happen because of the way a person's face moves.
Are they always related to age?
No. Because frown lines are created by facial movements, such as frowning or squinting, they may develop even in younger adults.
Prescription Dysport temporarily improves the look of your frown lines without changing the look of your whole face. Untreated facial muscles still work normally.
How is Dysport used?
Tiny amounts of Dysport are injected directly into the facial muscles underlying the frown lines. It usually takes several small injections between the eyebrows for an effective treatment. No local anaesthetic is usually required. You can expect treatment to take around 10-15 minutes.
Over the next few days, the muscles gradually relax. You probably won't notice it happening - you'll just become aware that you can't contract your frown muscles. But because you can still blink normally and raise your eyebrows, you will not look unnatural. Rather, you can enjoy a more youthful appearance while maintaining a natural expression.
Who can administer Dysport?
Dysport may be administered by dermatologists, primary care physicians, cosmetic aestheticians, plastic surgeons, and other healthcare professionals who are licensed to administer Dysport.
